Description

This is an illustration that I am doing off the Dresden book "Cold Days"by Jim Butcher. I am taking an excerpt from the book and creating an illustration for it. You will be able to see my process here www.youtube.com/playlist?list=…

The context of the illustration is from the very end of chapter 52,

"The serpent of Winter cold plunged into her chest, shattering her veil as it struck, and my apprentice's expression was twisted in startled horror. She didn't even have time to flinch. It struck, and she fell back against the side of the cottage, her legs buckling as if the muscles in them had forgotten how to move." -Cold Days by Jim Butcher

Even though there are a ton of the characters gathered in the book I narrowed it down to about three for the sake of sanity.

Image is cool, and so is idea. However, as always with everything, it can be better.I don't wish to insult you, just to help.

Background: I have no comment about, it's so realystical and beautiful.

Harry:Good position and visualization. The luck of siprise formin on his face, even if small, is great.Only problem is that proportions of hand and head aren't so good, it just makes them look off, as in "uncanny valley" kind of off.No insult.

Mab:She looks great, very fay ans calculating. her face is little too bony but better that than plush and fat.her smile is strangely happy, as if Maeve hasn't just died, but you can explain it as fey's incomprehensible behavior.Fingers are too divided, so hands look strange, but not big problem.her figure and clothes are great, especially ice over and around her.You even painted her eyes green as in books, not blue as many artists do because it's more Winter colour, even if green is canon, colour of fae and of evergreen, only trees associated with Winter, and her deep blue lips are great.

Molly:Her painful expression is heartbreaking and she looks so real.Fingers are also too noticeable and somehow look too old, but still great.Light over her is beautiful.

Mantle of Winter Lady:Just wow. So great, as if it's true snow.Scales transforming in spikes are bit strange yet so creepy wonderful detail. You could be more detailed on point where it goes in Molly' s chest but this works fine even for perfectionists like me.Only somewhere on end of serpent's tail are confusing, as if there are more of them, the place where is that tirquoise light, yet on other hand so mystical and great.
